46th Anniversary of the Victory of the Islamic Revolution of I.R. Iran

The National Day ceremony of the Islamic Republic of Iran in commemoration of the 46th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution was held in a grand style at Radisson Blu Hotel in Freetown on Monday evening 10 February 2025 with the presence of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Sierra Leone as the guest of honour the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Sierra Leone a number of Parliamentarians (members of Iran-Sierra Leone parliamentary friendship group) members of diplomatic and consular corps and international organizations as well as prominent figures from the business cultural and religious communities in Sierra Leone.

The ceremony commenced with the national anthems of the two countries. In his remarks, the Ambassador, H.E. Seyed Khalil Sadati Amiri, touched upon the nature of the Islamic Revolution and the events leading up to it. He opined on Iran’s achievements in the decades after the revolution in various fields despite the conspiracies and sanctions, and spoke about women's activism in Iran, the situation in the region and the crimes of the Zionist regime, Iran’s approach to foreign policy, including the issue of Palestine, the latest status of Iran-Sierra Leone ties and cooperation and existing capacities, the developments and progress achieved over the past year in bilateral relations, including the initiative of providing full scholarships to Sierra Leonean students, and the cooperation between the two countries in international organizations. He also appreciated Sierra Leone's principled positions as the holder of a non-permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council since the beginning of 2024.

In her remarks, H.E. Madam Francess Alghali, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Sierra Leone, conveyed the congratulatory message of H.E. President Maada Bio to his Iranian counterpart on the occasion of the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, and outlined the beneficial partnership between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations. Madam Alghali pointed out the commonalities between the two countries that have formed the basis of cooperation over the past four decades, and appreciated Iran’s support for Sierra Leone during difficult times, especially in the field of healthcare (including during the Ebola outbreak). She also spoke about Iran’s role in helping achieve the sustainable development goals in Sierra Leone, and praised the bond of friendship between the two countries and cooperation within the framework of international organizations. Madam Alghali concluded by considering Iran’s cultural richness and the achievements of Iranians worthy of greater attention, and announced Sierra Leone’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, and wished the people and government of I.R. Iran further progress, prosperity and peace.

During the ceremony, engaging video clips showcasing Iran’s tourist attractions, scientific and technological achievements, and economic potentials were played. Iranian delicacies including pastries and nuts were offered which were met with great enthusiasm by the guests, along with Iranian music. The ceremony concluded with the cutting of the cake of the 46th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, friendly conversations, and group photos. Throughout the evening, stunning images of Iran and its various capabilities were projected to the acclaim of the distinguished guests.
