Sierra Leone FM Attends Iran Embassy to Offer Condolences

On Friday May 24 H.E. Timothy Musa Kabba Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Sierra Leone visited the Embassy of I.R. Iran in Freetown to offer his deep condolences and sympathy to the ambassador and the government and people of Iran for the tragic loss of the Iranian President and Minister of Foreign Affairs and left an entry in the condolence book at the embassy.

The esteemed Minister stated that due to his trip to "Bo" for the coronation of paramount chiefs along with the President, he could not visit the embassy sooner to express his condolences. He also pointed to the letter of condolence that was previously sent on May 21 by H.E. Dr. Julius Maada Bio, the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, to Dr. Mohammad Mokhber, Interim President of I.R. Iran.

Referring to his fruitful meeting with the late Minister last March, Mr. Kaaba noted, “Not long ago, I had a meeting with my brother Dr. Amir-Abdollahian on the sidelines of the Jeddah Summit, and we were supposed to meet again in the near future in Tehran to discuss the expansion of bilateral relations.”

He stated that this tragic incident was God Almighty’s divine providence and added, “On behalf of the government and people of Sierra Leone, I would like to express my sincere condolences for the loss of the hard-working President and Minister of Foreign Affairs and their companions. We are with you and the Iranian nation in this sad historical moment.”

Mr. Sadati Amiri, Ambassador of I.R. Iran to Freetown, expressed gratitude to Mr. Kaaba for his heartfelt condolences and presence at the embassy, and assured the Honorable Minister that the late minister's plans and path will continue, “as you mentioned, Martyr Amir-Abdollahian was determined to expand relations with Sierra Leone, especially in the field of economic cooperation, and sought to open a new chapter in our bilateral relations. We are adamant to carry on the path started by our revolutionary president and foreign minister to achieve the desired results.”

In the end, Mr. Sadati Amiri emphasized that the Iranian side is determined to arrange Mr. Kaaba's trip to Tehran, which was proposed during the time of martyr Amir-Abdollahian as soon as possible and assured him that the acting foreign minister, Mr. Bagheri Kani, would certainly welcome such interaction with his Sierra Leonean counterpart.
