The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Freetown declares that the US regime—in a failed attempt to undermine the Iranian nation’s unyielding resolve to defend the country’s sovereignty—once again violated Iran's national sovereignty and territorial integrity on the evening of Tuesday, September 1, 2026. The US launched targeted attacks on several civilian areas and critical service infrastructures, including telecommunication towers and sites in the southern provinces, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of a number of our compatriots and causing damage to public and private property. In an American attack dirtectly targetted a civilian wedding ceremony in Sirik County, Hormozgan Province, more than 70 individuals martyred or wounded; the majority of them were women and children. The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Freetown condemns these barbaric war crimes, which constitute a flagrant violation of fundamental principles of international law. These actions mirror previous American-Zionist atrocities committed over the past 18 months, including those in Minab and Lamerd. In direct response to the U.S. military aggression, and exercising its inherent right to legitimate self-defense, the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran launched crushing defensive strikes against U.S. military bases that had served as the origin and support for the aggression against Iran. As a nation committed to the norms of international law, the Islamic Republic of Iran expects all governments worldwide to condemn the terrorist and aggressive actions of the United States. 2026/09/04
