Dr. Araghchi Takes Office as Iran’s New FM
Following five days of intense debate and evaluation of President Pezeshkian’s ministerial nominees by the Iranian Parliament (or Majles as we call it) Dr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi a seasoned diplomat won the vote of confidence of the lawmakers and was confirmed as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Dr. Araghchi takes the helm of the Foreign Ministry having served as a career diplomat in various positions over the years including Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator, as well as ambassador to Finland and Japan. For the first time in about 23 years, all the initial ministerial nominees in Iran have been approved by the Parliament which is a testament to the efficacy of President Pezeshkian's approach to governing based on reconciliation and national unity.
