On Friday August 16 the Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran H.E. Sadati Amiri met with the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Sierra Leone Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh in his chambers at OAU Drive.

The meeting took place after Mr. Conteh’s recent visit to Tehran to attend the 14th presidential inauguration ceremony of I.R. Iran accompanied by other members of parliament including Hon. Alpha Ben Mansaray, the representative of Moyamba district.

Hon. Conteh pointed out that the trip to Tehran was a pleasant experience and expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended to their delegation by the people and government of Iran. He also emphasized that it was an enlightening experience in the sense that it painted a clear picture of the realities of the region, and Iran in particular.

They discussed the role of Sierra Leone as the President of United Nations Security Council. Deputy Speaker shed light on the priorities of Sierra Leone in that capacity and the Ambassador praised the constructive approach and stances that Sierra Leone has adopted so far and expressed hope that this trend would continue.

The two sides then went on to confer on different aspects of bilateral cooperation in detail and discussed ongoing activities with the aim of establishing the agenda and reaching an agreement on the best path forward in order to strengthen bilateral ties, especially as far as the two parliaments are concerned.

Special thanks were expressed to Hon. Alpha Ben Mansaray for his constructive role in promoting parliamentary cooperation between the two friendly and brotherly countries of Iran and Salone and planting yet another seed of friendship for the prosperity of the two nations.
